| Amputation
and Stump Revision |
A very
specialised service highly tailored to the individual.
As a military plastic surgeon, Miss Cubison has
considerable experience and expertise in the management of amputations, both
primary amputation and also secondary problems associated with amputation
stumps.
To get the best out of a prosthetic limb it is important
that the patient has a comfortable, well fitted stump, without problems such as
abnormal bone or neuroma (abnormal nerve growth formation). All these things can
be very difficult to work around simply by changing the prosthetics and often a
surgical approach is necessary. Miss Cubison works as part of a
multi-disciplinary team to manage problems with amputation stumps and works
closely with pain management specialists, psychologists and prosthetic limb
fitting specialists, as well as a variety of physiotherapists and occupational
therapists to ensure that the patient can get back ‘on-legs’ as soon as
practical.

| Breast |
The appearance of a patient's
breasts is a very personal thing, and often patients find it difficult
to discuss their concerns. We hope that in the personal yet informal
setting of a consultation with Miss Cubison you will feel comfortable
enough to describe exactly what your concerns are, so that she can
help you to plan surgery, if this is appropriate for you.
Commonly performed procedures
include: Breast Augmentation with Implants

Uplift Surgery (Mastopexy) which may be done with or without Implants;
Breast Reduction
Male
patients also sometimes have concerns about the appearance of their
chest area, and this can also be addressed very successfully with
either liposuction or formal removal of excess tissue (gynaecomastia).
|
| Body Contouring and
Weight Loss Surgery
|
During your lifetime it may be that you will have a
significant change in your shape, either due to pregnancy or weight
gain and subsequent loss, and the resulting appearance may be
concerning for you.
Miss
Cubison can perform a number of procedures from formal abdominoplasty
(tummy tuck) to procedures such as apronectomy, and removal of excess
skin from the lower abdomen, as well as excess tissue from other areas
such as the arms (bracheoplasty) and the thighs (thigh lift).
Liposuction can also be performed in many areas to improve body
contour and help to remove troublesome areas of fat

Scar Revision and
Tattoo Removal |
Any wound that damages
the deeper layers of the skin, whether this be a burn, an operative incision
(cut) or an injury will leave a visible scar. It is not possible to cut
through the skin without leaving some form of scar.
If you have an existing scar, from whatever cause, this may be
troublesome for you and there are often techniques that can be used to
improve the appearance of your scar. Miss Cubison uses a variety of
techniques from massage and silicone, through to surgical scar
revision involving a number of different treatment options depending
on the type of scar and your skin type. Click here for more details
Tattoos
may be appropriately removed using a laser, however, there are also
some tattoos that are more appropriately removed using techniques such
as surgical excision or formal re-surfacing. How effective this
process is depends on the type of tattoo and its colour and shape.

| Skin
Grafts, Trauma and Burns |
Miss Cubison is experienced in treating a variety
of forms of trauma, including hand injuries, skin loss to the lower
limbs, and major reconstruction after road traffic accidents. Although
it is difficult to give prices for these kind of cases, as they are very
individual, if you have an acute injury and are insured please do
contact us as soon as possible, as it may well be possible to arrange
for you to have your treatment at the McIndoe Surgical Centre on an
Urgent basis, although as an isolated reconstructive hospital we are not
able to provide acute care for complex major trauma.
Miss
Cubison provides both acute and secondary burn reconstruction, in both
adults and children, and can provide care from the acute burn through to
formal rehabilitation as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

| Lumps and
Bumps |
There are many causes for lumps and bumps, from
simple moles that you may have had all your life, through to more
concerning skin cancers. Miss Cubison provides a comprehensive service
to remove all sizes of lesions, from the smallest mole through to the
more complex skin cancers. This can frequently be done on a "See
and Do" basis at your first consultation, as an Outpatient, but may
require a formal in-patient stay in more complicated cases.
We have a histopathology service to analyse tissue
that is removed, if this is medically necessary, Miss Cubison will be
happy to advise you as to whether your mole should be sent for pathology
assessment, as this is not automatically necessary in every case, and
does incur an extra cost.
Although
it is not possible to remove lumps and bumps without leaving any visible
scar, with careful attention to detail it is possible to provide a
minimal scar that will settle down quickly, given the correct care and
attention
